Course Description
Students will be introduced to the function, maintenance and use of internal combustion engine powered chain saws. Field instruction will consist of entry level training of safe use of a chainsaw. Class is specifically for individuals with little or no previous experience in operating a chain saw. This class will be providing a hands on in the field cutting experience. The class will cover various disposal options for hazardous woody debris materials.
Who should attend
Anyone 18 or older who is interested in wildland fire resiliency and forest restoration on their property. Learn how to safely thin trees and dispose of hazardous woody debris.
Needs
Field instruction will be outside. Long sleeve shirts, long pants and sturdy boots are required. NO shorts or summer shoes. If you have a chainsaw and Personal Protection Equipment that includes chaps, gloves, helmets and eye protection please bring with you to class. If not, please let us know when you register and we will try to accommodate your needs.
Cost
Is FREE but a donation for Camp Esquagama is encouraged. Class size is limited. Rustic lodging is available with pre registration and upon request. Meals provided . Please let us know about any special food requirements.
