Chapter Relations

Objective: To recruit and nurture MFA chapters; encourage and assist chapters in producing field days and other educational events deemed to be of value by chapter members; actively solicit regular reports on chapter activities from the chapter chairs; promote publicity for the chapters and their events through the MFA newsletter and other means, promote partnership between chapters and other organizations, such as U of M Extension, that will help the chapters achieve their goals.

Objective: To promote the interests of MFA and its members before the MN State Legislature and Government Agencies.
Education

Objective: To produce and promote, both independently and cooperatively with other organizations, educational materials, classes and other events that are viewed as valuable by MFA members.
Membership

Objective: Listen to members by any means possible. Through surveys and other means, thoroughly study current MFA members, past members and prospective members - who they are and what they would like to get from an organization like MFA; to make recommendations for increasing member satisfaction; to actively promote new memberships and a high level of renewal by existing members. Existing resources: National Woodland Owners Survey by the U.S. Forest Service; Mike Kilgore study, Oct. 2005; MFA survey of members.

Donations, Finance & Investment

Objective: To judiciously watch over MFA’s assets, revenue and expenses including monitoring the performance of invested funds, presenting an annual operating budget; reporting periodically through the year on performance against budget; and, as needed, creating pro-forma projections on various scenarios being considered by the board.
Land & Easements
Chair: Lyle Keller
Objective: To manage and maintain the conservation easement on the property for which MFA has accepted responsibility. Study the easement and prepare a summary for the board on our rights and obligations under this easement.
Forest Carbon

Objective: Growing and managing forests for carbon is a new demand for our woodlands. Forests and forest products grow and store carbon. This committee is designed to help foster knowledge as to proper paths for a new demand of forest carbon credits.
